In many Asian families, we grow up hearing things like:
- Don’t get angry.
- Don’t tell other people what happens in the family.
- If you get divorced, keep it a secret.
- Even when you’re hurting, just keep going.
Many things are left unsaid.
Many feelings stay inside.
And many important life decisions are not yours alone.
How Dare You? begins with this kind of upbringing.
This is not just a show about divorce.
It’s the true story of a Taiwanese comedian who brings her own life to the stage.
From growing up in an Asian family, to marriage, betrayal, becoming a single mum, and starting over at forty, every story you hear really happened.
Instead of hiding these experiences, she turned them into comedy.
Growing up, she was taught to hide her feelings.
Now, comedy is where she finally gets to tell the truth.
Through laughter, you’ll step into a culture that may be very different from your own.
Every joke comes from real life.
Every story once made her cry.
How Dare You? has toured more than 25 cities across Taiwan, performed for over 4,000 audience members, and completed two shows in Malaysia.
This year, for the first time, the show is coming to Australia as a full English stand-up comedy show.
Wherever you’re from, this isn’t just a comedy show.
It’s a chance to experience an Asian family from the inside, discover a different culture, and realise that people everywhere share many of the same feelings.

到四十歲重新開始，每一個故事都是真實發生過的。

About Ponpon Huang
Ponpon Huang has performed stand-up comedy for over 17 years and is one of Taiwan’s best-known comedians.
She is also the founder of Ponwo Expression Education, helping thousands of people become more confident through communication and self-expression.
Now she’s taking a new challenge—bringing her comedy beyond Taiwan and sharing her stories with audiences around the world.
Australia is the next stop on that journey.
